Nurburgring… Done

image

After an early start and a 5 hour ride we made it to our guest house where we unloaded the panniers and headed straight for the Nurburgring. We had time for 1 lap of the course and it was amazing.

As soon as we’d finished we grabbed our obligatory stickers and headed back to the guest house again.

There were a number of unrestricted autobahns on the way up which was an experience in itself. Cruising along at 90mph and having a Porche fly past at twice your speed is not something you see everyday.

We are absolutely knackered now… Dave is already asleep, so its an earlyish night before we do even more exciting stuff tomorrow!

It is now “tomorrow” and I’m going to post this update after a full english breakfast in Germany.

Shane Marriott

Shane has a hunger for adventure that neither his wallet, free time nor other-half will support. Ever the optimist, after riding a Suzuki Bandit 600 for a few years and completing a Level 1 Advanced course at the "World of BMW" school in Wales he has put his money where is mouth is and invested in a brand new, fully spec'd BMW R1200GS Adventure ("30 Years GS" version). It is planned that this awesome machine will take him round Iceland, help him win the HUMM event and get safely to the beer festival in Germany! So; is Shane ready for the Adventure? I think we need to ask if the Adventure is ready for him?

  1. So what was your top speed on the autobahn? You must have tried to see how fast the GSAs will go?!

  2. The GPS showed 119 mph down the final straight for me :-)

  3. The GSA’s are faster than us! You should limit the max speed to 180kmh with the luggage on. Was stable as anything and still pulled like a goat when you throttle on some more at that speed.
